Assistant Accountant

We are looking for an accounting superstar to join our growing team as our new Assistant Accountant.

The Role

Based in beautiful Nelson, the Freeman Roofing Group Support Team provides leadership, marketing, accounting, training, HR, health and safety and IT support to the branches.

To help us support our growing and changing business, we are looking for a versatile assistant accountant who will complement the existing team supporting both management and financial accounting functions.

About the Role:
Our finance team works closely with the senior leadership team and our branches to support their decision making and to provide accurate and timely internal management reporting.  Our assistant accountant plays a key part in this process.
Some of the key tasks will include, but are not limited to:
* Manage financial accounting tasks, including reconciliations and reporting,
* Preparation of monthly management accounts across our network,
* Monthly balance sheet audits,
* Working with our teams to seek out best practice and to continuously improve our processes and procedures,
* Payroll support,
* Assisting with IRD filings and reconciliations,
* Supporting the stock management within branches and ensuring accurate and timely reporting,
* Working with our teams to prepare and consolidate annual budgets,
* Using Power BI and other data tools to gather information, build reports and improve processes,
* Ad-hoc project work.

About you:
To be considered for this busy role, the ideal candidate will:
* be well organised and a natural problem solver,
* have an analytical mind and strong attention to detail,
* have excellent interpersonal skills,
* have great excel skills and an interest or experience in the M365 suite of tools,
* have the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the business,
* have the right to work permanently in New Zealand.

What you will bring:
* Experience in previous accounting roles,
* Tertiary qualification in accounting or equivalent,
* An understanding of accounting best practices,

You will work Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 4.30pm, reporting directly to our Chief Financial Officer.
Over  Christmas/New Year we normally shut down for two weeks, giving you an opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved break.
